Newport public safety reports: Fuel pump knocked over
Two guests at Red Rock Lodge, 1280 Hastings Ave., are suspected of causing $250 in damage to the room before checking out Dec. 6. A 21-year-old Hastings woman and a 25-year-old Apple Valley man are expected to be cited.
A 49-year-old Newport woman at SuperAmerica, 1649 Hastings Ave., ran into a fuel pump and knocked it over Dec. 1. The woman reportedly got her foot stuck on the gas pedal and accidentally put the vehicle in drive, hitting the pump. The pump was a total loss and the car suffered moderate damage to the front end.
Stuck in tree
A 22-year-old old Newport woman climbed about 25 feet up a tree to retrieve her son's drone that was stuck in it. The woman got stuck in the tree. The fire department used a ladder to get her down. Firefighters reportedly threw a water bottle at the drone to knock it down.
A stolen vehicle was found in a yard in the 500 block of 11th Street Dec. 6.
Opinion Brewing, 374 21st St., was burglarized Dec. 6. The manager reportedly found the pull-tabs cash drawer pried open with $1,800 missing. The owner reportedly reset the alarm that morning and did not see anything on the video leading up to the alarm.
A vehicle was reported stolen from Courtesy Car Rental, 1412 Hastings Ave., Nov. 30. A 33-year-old Hastings woman rented the vehicle Nov. 16 and was supposed to return it the next day. The vehicle was recovered in Hastings.
Deputies responded to a domestic at Boyd's Motel, 1700 Hastings Ave., Dec. 2 between a 31-year-old woman with no permanent address and a 30-year-old Newport man. The male had visible scratches and had been burned with a cigarette. The woman had been pushed and received a skinned knee. The two were advised to leave alone.
