Police notify community of predatory offender residing in Cottage Grove
The Cottage Grove Public Safety Department is holding an informational meeting Thursday, Feb. 8, to inform the community of a level-3 predatory offender staying in the city.
Maxxe Stevens Jackson, 42, reported to the department Jan. 22 that he occasionally stays at a residence in the 8900 block of 92nd Street.
He is considered a level-3 offender based on an assessment score that determines the likelihood to reoffend. Level 3 means the person is at a high risk of reoffending.
According to state statute, the department must hold and informational meeting for the community, and the offender may not be present.
Police cannot prohibit predatory offenders from living in the city, and Jackson is not wanted by police as he has already served his court sentence.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 8 at Cottage Grove Middle School, 9775 Indian Blvd.
Police will release information about his offenses at the meeting, along with an opportunity to ask questions and resources for the community.
